P&O Ferries – Information for Freight Passengers

P&O Ferries - Freight

P&O are one of the best-known ferry companies in Britain, offering freight and passenger crossings from the UK to Ireland and the Continent. If you’re a commercial driver, take a look below for all the information you need.

Ferry Routes

P&O’s most popular freight ferry crossing is from Dover to Calais, although the company also offers services from Cairnryan, Dublin, Hull, Larne, Liverpool, Teesport and Tilbury. European destinations include Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.

Please note that P&O don’t offer a Dover to Dunkirk service. For this route, take a look at our DFDS Seaways page.

Tickets

When you check in with P&O at the port, you’ll receive a window hanger for your vehicle, plus a three-part ticket. It’s important to keep hold of this. The bottom section is handed to staff when you board, the second section is kept for your return journey, and the top section gives you access to the Routemasters Lounge on board the ferry.

If you’re travelling one-way, the middle section will be blank.

On Board Facilities

P&O provide some great facilities for freight passengers in the form of the Routemasters Lounge. This is only open to freight passengers, and gives you a space to relax in during the journey.
Commercial drivers have access to:

  • Restaurants
  • Showers
  • Comfy, reclining chairs
  • Special commercial rates on currency exchange

In the restaurants, you’ll find a choice of hearty dishes, with main meals priced at around £5.99. This includes a drink.

On overnight services, freight drivers also get free meals and cabin accommodation.
